The foods are fully hydrated and ready to eat - no longer do the astronauts have to survive on just dehydrated food. Great for parties, class projects and as a special treat. No refrigeration required. Freeze-dried foods are eaten by astronauts under weightlessness conditions in space. Originally developed for the early Apollo missions, food is frozen to -40 degrees F (-40 degrees C) and then vacuum dried and placed in a special foil pouch. Our products are manufactured by the same company that supplies freeze-dried foods to NASA for the Space Shuttle missions. This space meal includes chicken and rice in a savory sauce, accented with pimientos. Just add hot water, stir, and your meal is ready to serve.
